The holiday season takes on a special meaning for Milliken. Echoing the sentiments of Milliken Gives, associates at each of our locations around the globe find unique ways to give back to their local communities in ways that are meaningful for them personally.
For more than five years, associates in Spartanburg have participated in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree – a national project assisting parents who are unable to buy Christmas gifts for their children. Parents register for the Angel Tree program, providing information about the child’s dream gift and clothing sizes. Then, individuals and companies across Spartanburg County sponsor these children, known as angels, by providing gifts. The gifts are happily distributed to the families the week before Christmas.
Each year, Milliken joyfully pledges to support our local community by sponsoring roughly 200 angels. Over the course of our work with the Angel Tree project, we have sponsored more than 1,000 children, by providing not only basic necessities but also a dream gift.
The Angel Tree has become a hallmark experience of the holiday season at our global headquarters. Our associates connect with this project because of its local impact, spreading holiday cheer to families who need it most. Some associates even make it an opportunity to bond with their families by selecting angels of similar age ranges to their own children. They then shop with their families and select gifts for their angels together.
