Two Associates Supporting Veterans Near and Far

On November 11, we honor all those who have served, and continue to serve and protect citizens around the world.

Milliken has a legacy of developing innovative technologies for our global Milliken Military business, from flame resistant and easy-to-care-for uniform textiles to ultra-durable, protective fabric composites. Moving beyond our innovations designed to help protect those who protect others, we’re taking a moment to reflect how our desire to support the military community can be see through our associates. Uniquely serving veterans — both within Milliken and within our communities — in ways of their own, we share two of the many stories throughout our company that are inspiring us this day and every day.

Associate network for veterans & service members at Milliken

We value the unique perspective and dedication that active and military veterans bring to our company. Through the newly created Veterans and Military associate network, we look to engage this unique group within our company and encourage their work both inside and outside Milliken. To Brad Johnson, Milliken’s director of benefits and retirement, who leads the associate network, “it’s an honor to connect with and support fellow veterans and service members at work. Our monthly gatherings empower us as we look to support causes that are important to us in the community.”

Giving back to veterans and their families through Folds of Honor

Milliken associates have also been compelled to give back to veterans and their families. Jeff Morris, Milliken senior vice president, Uniform and Protective Fabrics, chairs the board of the newly formed Palmetto State Chapter of Folds of Honor. The nonprofit provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members.

“My father and grandfather served in the military. I am honored to support an organization providing educational opportunities for the next generation of leaders and innovators, and for Milliken to support them by helping protect service members in the field through unparalleled innovation,” Morris shared.

These are only two of the many meaningful ways our associates connect with the communities in which they live and work. By supporting service members and veterans, and their families, now, Brad and Jeff, like so many others, strive to make a lasting impact for the future.
