“A place for everything, and everything in its place.” — Benjamin Franklin
In today’s hyper-connected, data-driven world, it is increasingly important to be aware of how digital information is used. From data access to data retention, these processes are never static, and when guided by an ethical viewpoint, decisions regarding data compliance should be proactive measures.
Milliken is committed to ensuring the safety and security of our associates and our partners. This applies not only to physical safety, but also to the protection of personal information. Milliken takes the charge to safeguard personal information as a legal obligation, but more importantly as the right thing to do.
Officially in effect May 25, 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) continues to be a trending topic across our communities. Considered one of the most important updates to data privacy regulations in 20 years, the policy modernizes the way people are protected. Under GDPR, European Union (EU) citizens are granted certain rights regarding the collection, use and retention of their personal data.
Milliken has implemented policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GDPR. Furthermore, we are adopting these policies globally through a proactive plan — one that we have been working on since fall 2017 — to add an additional layer of protection for our entire company. From our perspective, May 25 was just one part of our continuous journey towards data security excellence on behalf of our valued associates and partners.
Our hope is that, by working proactively in important matters like data privacy, we showcase our dedication to doing the right thing as a business leader. You can discover more information on Milliken’s commitment to data privacy efforts here.
