A clarifying agent used to create UltraClear polypropylene, Millad NX 8000 prompts the marketplace to redefine how we all care for the environment through solutions that address key challenges in today’s plastics industry.  

Millad NX 8000 helps cement the viability of polypropylene as an alternative to traditional plastics or glass by heightening the quality and clarity of the product. Further, polypropylene contributes to a circular economy with an extended life cycle — especially important when an estimated 91% of nearly 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic waste is not recycled.

Recyclability is just one sustainable benefit of using this clarifying agent. By incorporating Millad NX 8000, plastic converters are able to save energy and increase productivity in their manufacturing processes. The processing temperatures needed to create the plastic components are lowered, which results in a shorter cooling time. These two elements translate to roughly 8% to 12% energy savings with a reduced production timeline of up to 10%. In addition, those using Millad NX 8000 are able to cut their CO₂ emissions.

Millad NX 8000 is a catalyst for promoting responsible manufacturing that is kind to the environment. To that end, Milliken has partnered with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an organization advancing the recognition of sustainable products and bringing trusted transparency to the green marketplace, since 2013. UL third-party validated Millad NX 8000’s environmental benefit, so customers who use the clarifying agent may include the UL Environmental Claim Validation (ECV) label in their own product labeling.

It is exciting to see the plastics industry embrace the numerous environmental benefits made possible by Millad NX 8000. Collaborating with the China Plastic Housewares Association, for example, helped broaden awareness of potential energy consumption reductions within the booming industry. In fact, five of the leading manufacturers have committed to using the ECV label for products manufactured with Millad NX 8000.
