At Milliken, we put safety at the forefront of our manufacturing operations globally. Our associates are the most important part of our company, so we foster a culture of safety to provide for associate well-being. Since we have multiple work sites around the world, we cannot apply a ‘blanket approach’ to safety, nor would we want to. Each location’s needs are taken into account as we design a safety program specific to that site. Each and every associate plays a vital role in this culture of safety—from plant managers to newly hired associates—so we sat down with four Milliken associates to understand how they prioritize safety.

Safety is a central pillar of our work at Milliken, both in our products and in our working environment. Fostering a culture of safety not only protects our associates, it leads to more stable communities—communities positively impacted by Milliken innovations.

Safety has long held a place of importance in the way we conduct business. It is a core value at Milliken. We believe that each and every associate plays an active role in implementing and advancing our safety culture, a process we have honed through the course of our 153 years. Our dedication to safety is clearly articulated within our organization, but we refuse to be complacent. We are committed to furthering our knowledge on an ongoing basis.

With the changes the U.S.-based textiles industry has seen over the past century, Milliken knew our ability to thrive as a global innovations company depended on our ability to innovate practically on behalf of the markets and customers we served. Many of Milliken’s leading innovations were developed as a way to solve a problem — using design as a key mechanism for an achievable outcome.

Since the early 1980s, safety has played a prominent role in how we as a company do business. We find that, when they come to work in a connected, protected environment, our associates are able to focus on their roles and thrive in their professional careers. Safety is of foundational importance in achieving this ideal and is a tenant we carefully cultivate on an ongoing basis.

Each year, Earth Day is a call to recommit ourselves to caring for the planet we call home. More than 193 countries come together on April 22 to bring awareness to and build support for environmental protection measures.

Color is all around us, sometimes so seamlessly interwoven into daily life that we barely distinguish it as its own attribute. The role of color adds dimension, helps classify or categorize, enables performance or sometimes simply intensifies beauty; yet color is something that adds meaning in any context.

Our recognition as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies is an important honor for Milliken as it supports our belief that ethical business practices matter.

Sustainability is a major consideration in today’s global marketplace. From the ability to design and produce eco-friendly products to the tangible improvements an environmentally responsible process can invite, sustainability carries with it a sense of doing right for the environment for the benefit generations to come.
