As we reflect on another year of innovating to explore, discover, and enhance people’s lives – we have much to celebrate! This year, we were honored to receive a plethora of prestigious industry awards; humbled by our associates’ continued commitment to ‘doing good;’and energized by our noble advancements in health and safety.
2016 was marked by milestones that affirm our position as a global innovator across a breadth of disciplines – from specialty chemicals, to floor covering, to performance materials.
We invite you to explore our “year in review,” where we highlight some of our proudest achievements during 2016.
In our annual community impact campaign, our associates generously demonstrated what it means to ‘do good’ by giving more than $250,000 to local Spartanburg charities. The Milliken Foundation matched associate donations to the four different organizations for a combined impact of over $500,000. This was the largest amount collected in our annual campaign in a decade.
Milliken was honored once again as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere® Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.
Milliken joined forces with the Chapman Cultural Center to promote the integration of Artlets – designated public areas where residents can create music, draw, collaborate, and connect around the arts – into Northside communities in Spartanburg.
Milliken Sustainability leader Philip Ivey and his colleague, Jennifer Smith, recently embarked on piloting a new LEED v4 credit, MRc4 Option 3, which promotes greater building material transparency for healthier interior environments.
Milliken’s Lapidus collection eliminates traditional design rules and invites both creativity and simplicity for extraordinary depth and flexibility – leading it to win Best of NeoCon Gold for modular carpet, a #MetropolisLikes award, and be included in the IIDEXCanada Best of Award-Winning Exhibit.
Milliken won the prestigious EUROPUR Innovation Award for our Milliguard® AOX-1 polymer-bound antioxidant for polyurethane (PU), which gives the automotive industry a unique solution for compliance with toughening indoor air quality standards for vehicles.
For more than two decades, milliCare has consistently provided innovative, excellent carpet and textile care. We have moved beyond carpet care to stand as a mark of excellence in total care for facilities and brands around the world—contributing to clean, fresh, health workplaces.
The release of our floor covering division’s second annual sustainability report revealed the fulfillment of our goal to divert 99% of all of the company’s waste away from landfills and to places where it could be re-used or recycled. We are proud of our team’s unmoving stance as an environmentally responsible company committed to the elimination of solid waste, hazardous wastes, and emissions.
Westex Indigo™ from Westex by Milliken was recently named Occupational Health & Safety Magazine’s 2016 New Product of the Year for Protective Apparel.
Milliken was recognized for excellence in leadership, technology, and innovation on a regional and global scale with the receipt of two prestigious industry awards: an R&D 100 Award and InnoVision Award for Technology Integration. The accolades highlight two of our proudest product achievements for their revolutionary protective and environmental qualities impacting a multitude of industries.
Cheers to the New Year and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead!
